Alfred Downs Education Scholarship

The Alfred Downs Art Financial Award is geared towards a full or part-time student majoring in Teacher Education with a minimum 2.0 GPA. The one-time award, which totals $1,000 for the year, was established in honor of alumnus Mr. Alfred Downs whose love for art education and keeping the arts alive among youth was always his dream. Unfortunately, after being drafted for the Korean War Mr. Downs suffered Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome/Shell Shock and his dream never materialized. However, it is the hope of Mr. Downs’ family that today’s prospective educators possess the same commitment to the arts and continue to enhance the culture by encouraging their students to forever uphold the discipline.
