Carl Downs Scholarship

The Carl Downs Scholarship is one that is geared toward motivating African American male students who have demonstrated that they have overcome a challenge or obstacle in their lives. In their journey they have decided to attend college to better their situation and through hard work have maintained a 2.0 GPA. The scholarship was founded by Mr. and Mrs. Roger K. Downs and established in commemoration of Carl Downs who opted to take a different path in life which did not included a college education, however, his brilliant mind has never been forgotten by his family. Additional requirements for the one-time $1,000 per year and the $500 per semester award include one letter of recommendation from a reputable individual who can verify the students’ situation.
