Dr. Henry Givens Jr. Scholarship

The Dr. Henry Givens, Jr. Scholarship was established to honor the work and legacy of Harris-Stowe’s longest-serving president, Dr. Henry Givens Jr., who held the position for more than 32 years before retiring in 2011. This scholarship is the result of numerous community leaders donating funds to the University’s foundation in the name of President Emeritus Givens. Two scholarships will be awarded per year at $5,000 and will be renewable if chosen students continue to meet the criteria. Each scholarship will cover full-time in-state tuition up to 16 credit hours and can also include room and board costs. Eligible candidates will meet the following requirements: hold a minimum 3.0 CGPA, involvement in extracurricular activities, possess exemplary community service involvement, with a letter submitted as proof, as well as two additional letters of recommendation from either a school official or community leader. Students eligible for the second scholarship must be a current Harris-Stowe student who meets the aforementioned criteria. This scholarship is renewable for eligible students
